"Greenalicious" Day

Leah got this book for Christmas and I was thinking that it would be great to have a "Pinkalicious" Day. Then I saw my sister-in-law, Rachel's post yesterday and decided to copy her copy. Rachel's son wanted to have blue cupcakes so I asked Leah what color she wanted, expecting her to want blue as well since that was her favorite color 2 days ago. She decided that green was her favorite color yesterday, so we had Greenalicious cupcakes for our FHE treat.

I got the recipe from here. Of course I used white whole wheat flour, but I did use regular sugar and everything else much like the recipe said. I did put some lime juice in the frosting though, green either needs to be lime, more mint don't you know! They turned out really yummy!

Leah ate mostly the frosting and was done.

Ryan got most of the frosting all over his face, ate a little of the frosting and the cupcake and tried to squish the rest onto his tray.

Ryan's 1st Birthday

Ryan's cake. The frosting looks kind of like fondant but it is just buttercream. If you smooth out the frosting with a Viva paper towel it makes it look like fondant. The shapes and letters are rolled out Starburst candies.

He wasn't too sure what to do at first.

Ryan was eating like normal with his hands but then all of the sudden he stuck his face in his cake. Maybe he didn't like getting the frosting on his hands, who knows.

Sugar rush kicking in! He loves the camera. I love the balloons in the background.

We had a mini party with just our family the actual day of his birthday. He crumbled up his cupcake, eating only 1/4 of it. He just likes making messes.

Ryan loved putting the cupcake gunk all over his head, notice the clumps in his hair. At one point he actually ground it into his head.

9 Layers

I made a time intensive 9 layer cake for Auntie Kimm's birthday. It was supposed to be a 12 layer cake but I ran out of steam and cut some out. Found the recipe here. As usual I was in such a hurry to get things done and out the door for Kimm's surprise B-day party that I didn't glue the cake down on to the platter and it slid all over during the drive up to Sandy. Also, I didn't even think about taking a picture before it was attacked. A beloved brother decided to cut himself a triangle right out of the center... Oh well, it was still really pretty and amazingly good. I had to give the leftovers away so I didn't eat it all.
