Bronchiolitis

Ryan has bronchiolitis. He has to have nebulizer treatments so he can breath properly. At first he had to have them every 4 hours, now we are able to go every 8 hours or so. The goal is to see if he can go 12 hours without any wheezing sounds in his lungs. I have a hard time hearing anything out of the ordinary though so I think he is almost over the worst of it. Ryan did very well with the treatments on the whole, this was the only time he actually laughed and smiled at Daddy though. Now he screams bloody murder whenever the mask comes close and the machine turns on. I feel like I'm torturing him while I try to hold him down so the mask doesn't ocme off. Sure will be glad when this is all over.

Ryan has been REALLY crabby lately, ok for the past month at least. Turns out he has probably had bronchiolitis for a while, that coupled with an ear infection in each ear it is no wonder why he has been so crabby. He is turning into a happier baby now, I'm so relieved!

Ginni, I am so sorry to hear about poor Ryan. I remember when Clint had a bout of that too, before he was one, and the nebulizar was horrible! But the more they cry, the more the medicidne gets into their lungs. It is just so hard to be the one inflicting the torture on them. I hope he is feeling better, and I am glad you found out what was wrong! Wow, it has been a rough couple of months! Spring is on its way! Things will get much better from here!

Winter is always so hard with babies. I am so grateful for modern medicine. I was with a group of pregnant women tonight and we were wondering how anyone survived a 100 years ago and before. Such a cute boy. He and Leah have the same eyes.

Oh, how sad. Is he feeling better now? Do you still have to give him treatments?

We had to do those treatments with Aaron a year or two ago. Same thing, was totally cool about it at first, but then got sick of it and screamed. I was so glad when he was well enough that we at least didn't have to wake him up in the night anymore to do it! That does not bring back good memories. . .;-)
